If I am right - and I only ever took a basic linguistics class, so don't trust me on this - the Tagalog bobo has its oigins in the Spanish word of the same spelling, which means "a fool, dunce, dolt, buffoon, also a bird so called from its apparent stupidity." Divisoria killed my sense of direction.
